FAQ ( Frequently Asked Questions )

    What is JADE's success rate?

JADE is led by My Linh Pham and Michael Cradock. My Linh Pham was the Victoria Government’s first Head of Significant Visa for 2014-2016. Michael is an immigration legal advisor and ex-KPMG audit consultant. JADE is joined by a team of experienced immigration legal advisors and together JADE has 100% success rate of Business & Investor visa grants to Australia.

What visa must I be on to apply for 491 visa?

Most international students will apply for a 485 visa after graduating. The 485 visa will be granted for 18 months, 2, 3 or 4 years, depending on your academic qualification. Some international students will have found an employer to sponsor them on the 482 visa. The 485 and 482 visa are the most common visa types prior to applying for a 491 visa. In addition, student visa holders may also apply if they have a positive skills assessment.

Is the 491 Small Business Owner visa available in all States in Australia?

No. Only the Queensland Government has a specific policy that encourages international students to buy a business and then apply for a 491 visa. However, other states will also support applications for 491 where applicants have demonstrate economic benefit to the regional area. The benefit of buying a business and then working in that business is to control your own destiny in respect of employment. If you have 1 year Australian work experience in your relevant occupation, e.g. Takeaway Restaurant Manager, then most students will qualify for the 491 visa.

When was the 491 SBO program introduced?

The 491 visa was introduced in November 2019. Each State determines its own policies to award State Nomination. Queensland was the first state to introduce a Small Business Owner policy. Other states are currently designing their state nomination policies.

Does JADE support us from 485 visa to 191 visa and also with the business management?

Yes. JADE is a migration company and an investment and business consulting firm. We have expert migration agents and experts in merger and acquisition consulting, as well as providing other support services such as:

    • Resident Director Services
    • Recruitment of Senior Management

I do not have much business management experience. How does JADE support us?

Do not be concerned. There is no requirement to have a long history of success in business. There is no requirement for you to actively manage the business every day. The key requirement to be eligible for the 191 visa is that you work in the business, that business is in regional Australia and you are paid at least $53,900 per year for 3 years. Managing a small business is difficult at the beginning but you will soon get familiar with how to do it. That is why JADE provides different levels of support. We can provide a business coach or help you hire an experienced manager.
