There are many investment trading platforms that allow you to trade shares on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX). However, many investors like to trade in a broad range of financial assets (e.g. forex and commodities). In addition, just like with residential property, investors like to use debt to increase the size of their investment and improve their absolute return on investment.
Choosing which investment trading platform is best for you will depend on many factors. Perhaps the highest factor is the fee charged per trade.
CommSec is Australia’s best-known investment trading platform. What many investors will not know is that CommSec also charges the highest fees.
In this article, we compare the fees of two (2) other major investment trading platforms in Australia:
Trong bài viết này, chúng ta sẽ so sánh phí của hai (2) nền tảng giao dịch đầu tư lớn khác ở Úc:
- – ANZ = CMC Markets (In 2017, CMC Markets acquired ANZ’s Australian Stock Broking business)
- – NAB = NAB Trade
Many investors in Australia buy and sell ASX shares infrequently, perhaps only 1 or 2 times per year. Smart investors will therefore look closely at whether an investment trading platform charges fees for “inactivity”.
As mentioned above, investors like to invest in a range of financial products, not just ASX shares. “Contracts for Difference” (CFDs) appeal to investors for several reasons.
According to CMC Markets there are an equal number of female and male investors who invest in CFDs
Theo CMC Markets, số lượng nhà đầu tư nam và nữ đầu tư vào CFD là như nhau
CFDs or “Contracts for Difference” allow investors to invest (i.e. the contract) on the price movement (up or down) between the value of the financial asset at two points in time. You do not actually invest or ever own the underlying financial asset.
With CFDs, investors use debt to multiply investment gains. On the other hand, a CFD can cost you money if the investment goes in the wrong direction. Therefore, investors in CFDs also need to choose a stop position on their loss.

We will explore more about CFDs and other investment assets that can be traded on investment platforms in another article.
The main point of this article is to introduce investors to the two (2) other major investment platforms so that they can compare the fees charged between CommSec, CMC Markets (ANZ) and NabTrade.
